Active Start: Replication Report

Updated February 2009

Active Start, winner of a 2006 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Innovation in Prevention Award, combines Active Living Every Day and ExerStart, two separate evidence-based programs. Both Active Living Every Day and ExerStart address the barriers sedentary individuals face when they initiate regular physical activity. Active Start incorporates behavior change strategies and safe exercises, which in turn give participants the confidence, skills and physical ability to join other physical activity programs available in their communities.
